Summary

Paul Fraser Collectibles is one of the world's leading rare collectibles companies, managing over £50 million of rare stamps, coins, memorabilia, autographs, watches and historical artefacts.

As part of our next phase of growth, we are developing two transformational technology platforms:

1. Collecting Daily

A global daily e-mail news service with social media and content platform dedicated to collectors, investors, museums, auction houses and enthusiasts.

2. Collectibles AI

A proprietary Large Language Model (LLM) and AI-powered valuation platform capable of identifying, researching, authenticating and valuing rare collectibles across multiple categories.

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the design, development and execution of both platforms.

This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a technology division from the ground up, creating products capable of disrupting a global collectibles market worth hundreds of billions of pounds.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strategic vision, commercial awareness and strong leadership skills. You will be responsible for defining the technology roadmap, building the development team and delivering world-class products capable of scaling internationally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technology Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute the Group's long-term technology strategy. 
• Act as a member of the senior leadership team helping shape overall business strategy. 
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to create competitive advantage. 
• Build a culture of innovation, experimentation and continuous improvement. 
• Lead technology budgeting, forecasting and resource planning. 
• Manage relationships with external technology suppliers, consultants and development partners. 

Collecting Daily Platform Development

Take full ownership of the design, architecture and development of Collecting Daily as a global collectibles news platform.

Responsibilities include:

• Defining platform architecture and technical roadmap. 
• Designing scalable cloud infrastructure. 
• Development of social networking functionality including: 
  > User profiles
  > Communities
  > News feeds 
  > Messaging 
  > Marketplace integration 
  > Video content 
  > Mobile applications 
• Delivering personalised content and recommendation engines. 
• Integrating AI-powered content generation and moderation tools. 
• Developing analytics and engagement measurement systems. 
• Ensuring scalability to support millions of users globally. 

AI & Valuation Platform Development

Lead the creation of a proprietary Large Language Model (LLM) as a valuation and authentication engine for rare collectibles.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing a collectibles-specific AI platform. 
• Building data acquisition and training pipelines. 
• Developing systems capable of:
  > Identification
  > Authentication support
  > Historical research
  > Market analysis
  > Automated valuation 
• Integrating image recognition technologies. 
• Creating valuation models using auction, dealer and market transaction data. 
• Building Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems using proprietary collectibles knowledge. 
• Establishing processes for continuous model improvement and training. 
• Exploring future applications including:
  > AI collecting assistants
  > Museum research tools
  > Automated cataloguing
  > Collection management systems 

Product & Development Team Leadership

• Recruit, manage and mentor technical team.
• Establish development methodologies and best practices. 
• Introduce agile delivery processes. 
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. 
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation and technical excellence.
  

Data, Security & Infrastructure

• Define data architecture and governance standards. 
• Ensure compliance with GDPR and relevant legislation. 
• Maintain robust cyber security policies and procedures. 
• Establish disaster recovery and business continuity processes. 
• Ensure secure handling of proprietary valuation and market data. 
• Manage cloud infrastructure and hosting environments. 

AI & Automation Across the Business

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation. 
• Integrate AI across marketing, operations, customer service and sales functions. 
• Develop internal AI tools and workflows. 
• Lead the responsible and ethical adoption of AI throughout the organisation. 
• Deliver training and guidance to staff on emerging technologies. 

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential

• Proven experience in a CTO, Head of Engineering or senior technology leadership role. 
• Experience building and launching customer-facing digital platforms. 
• Experience leading software development teams. 
• Strong understanding of modern cloud architecture (AWS preferred). 
• Experience with scalable web and mobile application development. 
• Strong knowledge of AI, LLMs and machine learning technologies. 
• Experience developing AI-powered products. 
• Experience with API integrations and modern software architectures. 
• Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking. 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 

Highly Desirable

• Experience developing social media or community platforms. 
• Experience building valuation, pricing or recommendation engines. 
• Experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures. 
• Experience training or fine-tuning Large Language Models. 
• Experience with computer vision and image recognition technologies. 
• Experience within marketplaces, collectibles, luxury goods, auction houses or fintech businesses.
