An attractive and desirable 17th edition copy of the Fountainhead from 1964, signed and inscribed by its author, Ayn Rand. Measures 7 x 4.25".
Published by Signet Books in New York.
Rand signs crisply in black ink: "To Jack Clearly - Cordially - Ayn Rand, 6/25/70."
The Fountainhead (first published 1943) was Rand's breakthrough novel. It remains widely read and highly controversial. It introduced the world to Rand's Objectivist philosophy through the main character, architect Howard Roark.
Rand's personal philosophy of Objectivism - namely that man's moral purpose is the pursuit of his own happiness - remains much debated. In recent decades Rand's ideas on unreserved capitalism have been a guiding light for politicians (including Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump), as well as tech innovators such as Elon Musk.
In good condition, with slight toning to interior and minor bends to the covers.
