Goyathlay aka Geronimo (1829 -1909) was a prominent Native American leader and medicine man of the Chiricahua Apache. He fought against both Mexico and the United States over their expansion into Apache tribal lands in the 19th Century.
His band was one of the last major forces of independent Native American warriors to fight the US occupation of tribal lands in the American West.
Superb provenance; the hair originates from the famed collection of Margaretta Pierrepont, wife of President Ulysses S Grant’s Attorney General.
