A 10 x 8” 1987 Christmas card fronted with an image of Jerry Lee Lewis and family with the printed message, “HOME EDITION Christmas 1987” signed clearly in black ink by Lewis.
Comes with a 2018 certificate of authenticity from Julien’s Auctions, Culver City, California.
Jerry Lee Lewis was one of the first wave of rock ‘n’ roll stars, breaking into the charts with songs like Great Balls of Fire, and Whole Lotta Shakin Going On, hammered out with shocking physicallity on piano.
His stage persona was wild and confrontational, earning him the nickname the Killer, and was probably a fairly true reflection of his own personality. His marriage to a 13-year-old cousin (his third of seven wives) put a stop to his rock ‘n’ roll success story for a while.
This 1987 picture shows Lewis with his 6th wife, Kerrie McCarver, and probably their son, Jerry Lee Lewis III. This was one of his more stable relationships, lasting until 2005.
Jerry Lee Lewis died in October 2022, aged 87. He left behind a decidedly mixed set of memories and some of the greatest boogie woogie and rock ‘n’ roll piano playing of all time. This card is a great memento of one of rock ‘n’ roll’s original legends.
