The Fountainhead (first published 1943) was Rand's breakthrough novel. It remains widely read and highly controversial. It introduced the world to Rand's Objectivist philosophy through the main character, architect Howard Roark.
Rand's personal philosophy of Objectivism - namely that man's moral purpose is the pursuit of his own happiness - remains much debated.
