Tomintoul in Banffshire has seen the world's largest bottle of whisky, containing its very own brand, filled and sealed.

Dru McPherson and Mike Drury wanted to put the village on the map, and the 1.5 metre tall bottle, containing 105.3 litres of 14 year old single malt is certainly difficult to ignore.

That's almost enough for everyone in the village to have a measure, as by the most recent estimates only 322 people live in Tomintoul.

The bottle will be displayed in the Clockhouse Restaurant, belonging to McPherson, whilst normal sized versions will be sold by Drury in the whisky shop.

A huge cork was made to fit the vast pyrex bottle, and the most nervous moment for all was when the cork was hammered in, and it seemed like the bottle could break before the record.

Now that Angus Robertson MP has unveiled the man-sized tipple it seems likely to attract a number of tourists to the scene, though perhaps mostly rather serious drinkers ...and giants.  ____________________________________________________________
