Wine auction is a 'gratifying success'

Edward Roberts International's 8th November auction has been described by the auction house as a 'gratifying success'.

Ninety percent of offered lots were sold and robust prices were realised for great growth Bordeaux as well as for mature Port, Madeira and rare Spirits.

Vintages of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild were particularly well subscribed with every offered lot selling well above the high estimates.

Bidders participated from throughout the United States and Canada as well as Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Argentina and Israel.

Once again the results highlight the global interest in lucrative alternative investments especially in China where the wine market is booming.

Sale highlights included a 1959 Chateau Lafite- Rothschild jeroboam estimated at $11,000-14,000 that sold for $19,635, and 12 bottles of 1975 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild estimated at $1,100-1,500 which sold for $4,046.

Edward Roberts International's upcoming December 13 wine auction features some especially enticing rarities.
