Is this the first time that one hundred 100-point wines have been offered in a single lot at a wine auction?
The organisers of the Naples (Florida) Winter Wine Festival think so, and hope its sale of the so-called 'Perfection Lot' will further add to the $82.5m that the auction house has already raised for local children's charities.
Among the wines going under the hammer is a bottle of the 1955 Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion, a 1989 Chateau Pétrus, and a 1985 Domaine Romanee-Conti valued at more than $11,000.
And as remarkable as the lot itself are the ends organisers the Naples Children & Education Foundation went to in order to track the wines down.

"The process of tracking down these special wines was extremely educational," Bruce Sherman, co-chair of the event and trustee of the Foundation, told the Decanter magazine.
"We learned all about cellaring and took great care that every bottle was perfectly cellared in excellent provenance and perfectly rated."
Each wine was marked 100/100 by the eminent wine critic Robert Parker, considered by many to be the industry's most influential expert.
According to Sherman, the Naples Children & Education Foundation has gone to great lengths to ensure that the wines will still be worthy of their 100 points marking when they auction at the annual event, next January.
