Almost 11,000 bottles of French wine are expected to comprise the highest-value wine auction ever held at Sotheby's on April 2 and 3.
Total sales could reach a World Record $10m in Hong Kong, further reflecting Asia's wine collecting boom. Even more impressive is that $10m wine stash has been consigned from the cellar of a single, anonymous collector.
Many of the usual high-end suspects will appear in the sale, including a Chateau Lafite 1982 which is expected to bring up to $65,000.
Also starring is a case of Romanee-Conti 1990, expected to sell for as much as $240,000.
As we've previously reported, Hong Kong has emerged as the world centre for wine auctions, outperforming both London and New York. According to recent figures, more than 60% of the world's top wines are being bought by Hong Kong collectors.
Previous blockbuster sales in the region include a $5.6m auction of wine owned by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber - $1.5m over estimate.
