Edward Roberts International is holding their first fine wine auction of 2010 on February 7 in Chicago. We have already mentioned some of the lots, notably the 1959 Château D'Yquem and 1961 Château La Mission Haut-Brion.
The sale also has a particularly fantastic range of Burgundies, however, especially from the collection of Albert D Williams Jr. The bottles have been carefully stored by the collector and should be in perfect condition.
The white Burgundies present a range of Grand Cru vintages including 1970 Le Montrachet and Corton Charlemagne 1973 and 1978.
Amongst the Grand Cru red Burgundies, however, one particular type appears to have been a favourite of Williams, as a significant number of bottles of it are available: 1976 Pierre Gelin Chambertin Clos de Beze.
The sale may be expected to be busy. Edward Roberts International enjoyed growth in wine sales of up to 14% through 2009, and wine has proved to be an extremely successful investment in recent years.
