L'Heraud Grande champagne cognac makes $14,000

A bottle of L'Heraud Grande champagne cognac 1802 made $14,280 at Bonhams' Whisky, Cognac and Rare Spirits auction on October 13 in New York.

The cognac is one of the rarest spirits in the world, with just a handful of bottles known to exist.

A bottle of Aberlour-Glenlivet, given to Kirk "Lem" Billings by lifelong friend John F Kennedy, achieved $6,545. The one of a kind bottle featured an engraved silver cap that read "Happy Birthday from Jack".

Other top lots at the sale included a Master Distillers Unity set that made $10,115 and a 1946 Macallan Select Reserve that sold for $8,925.
