A man who turned up on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow programme was left devastated when what he thought was an expensive bottle of wine was actually an old bottle from Tesco.
In an interview with the Guardian, Fiona Bruce revealed how the collector arrived with a bottle on which he had spent more than £1,000.
But a glass expert told him, "It's an empty olive oil bottle, Tesco, circa 2008 - it's worth nothing."
The footage will not be shown in September's new series, Bruce told the Guardian.
"It would have made great television but it was just too cruel. The guy was devastated. Poor chap. The thing about the show is not to humiliate people," she said.
The collector learned his lesson the hard way: that it is vital you know what you're doing and seek good expert advice before investing in wine.
