Heritage Auctions has announced the opening of its first wine auction of the fall, to be held in Beverly Hills on September 24.
The sale features 933 lots valued at roughly $1.3m on the low estimate, largely concentrated in blue-chip California classics and some young but very high quality Burgundy.
There are four featured collections in this auction, one of which comes from none other than Candy Spelling.

Following the successful sale of Spelling Manor, it seemed the right time to release the stars of this collection to the buying and drinking public.
Its second featured collection is the property of a retired stock trader whose passion for buying and collecting outperforms his ability to consume.
This collection promises to be "especially strong in highly-rated and sought-after releases from Napa and is of the best provenance available," says Heritage.
Every single item was purchased on release, most of those directly from the winery. The third featured collection comes from a Florida gentleman and restaurateur.
According to the auctioneer: "All wines having been purchased on release and stored under ideal temperature and humidity control. This collection is more of an all-rounder, featuring outstanding selections from all over the world."
One of the great cellars in the United States
Finally, Heritage's sales will reportedly boast "one of the great cellars in the United States."
"This gentleman sits at the very top of the food chain in a very exclusive pipeline. Though known to us for a very long time, this is his first effort selling as he has finally come to the conclusion that he owns too much wine."
Apparently, only a tiny portion of his cellar - representing the spill-over from his spill-over cellars - will appear for sale. Yet the top quality burgundy appearing is apparently only a smaller taster of more to come.
With Bordeaux wine highlights including coveted 1961 Latour, 1982 Lafite, 1982 Latour and 1982 Mouton, Heritage's sales promise to be among this year's greatest wine auction events.
