A single bottle of 2000 Romanee Conti has sold for £6,462 ($10,114) at Bonhams London.

The lot headlined a sale of fine wines on July 16.

Romanee Conti is considered one of the world's greatest burgundy producers. Bottles from its vineyards regularly achieve major sums at auction.

Last year three bottles of the 2005 vintage sold for a record $69,305 at Acker, Merril & Condit in Hong Kong last year - a figure that equates to a phenomenal $23,275 per bottle.
