Edward Roberts International's wine auction in Chicago, US, promises to include some especially enticing rare vintages.

Scheduled for Sunday December 13, it is the auctioneer's fifth fine and rare wine auction.

The sale will include revered Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Burgundies such as 1941 Grands-Echezeaux (estimated at $1,000-1,500), a jeroboam of 1971 La Tache ($7,600-10,300), 1985 and 1990 La Tache ($9,300-12,600 and $4,600-6,300, respectively), and a 1985 Romanée-Conti ($6,400-8,600).

A complete 2006 vintage horizontal of all eight DRC vineyards will also feature.

Revered Bordeaux to go under the hammer will include 1961 and 1962 Chateau Petrus ($5,900-8,000 and $1,100-1,500 respectively), and a 1961 Château Mouton-Rothschild ($2,800-3,500).

A leading light at the auction is a 1982 Château Lafite-Rothschild, carrying a head-turning estimate of $20,400-27,600. There will be high hopes for this lot; another 1982 recently sold for double its estimate at Christie's. 

Lafite-Rothschild vintages from 1983, 1985 and 1986 will also feature (estimated at $3,600-4,800, $3,100-4,100 and $7,100-9,700 respectively).

Tempting Californian selections include verticals of Sine Qua Non Syrah, including a 1998 ($2,500-3,000), and a 1999 Kistler Pinot Noir Cuvee Elizabeth ($1,300-1,700).

The above wines will sell alongside many other highly-rated selections, including 20 which have been awarded perfect 100 point scores.

All prices include a 19% buyer's premium. Bidding is now open on Edward Roberts International's website.

The auction will take place at the Union League Club of Chicago.
