"This collector bought only the greatest
producers from the greatest vintages"

The rare bottle, which resided in the vineyard's cellar for several decades, will appear at the February 23 auction with a $9,000 high estimate.

Among the other leading Italian wines in the staggering single owner collection will be a single lot of four magnums of Bartolo Mascarello Barolo, which has a $4,800 high valuation.

"To say that the collector of this amazing Italian collection is passionate is an understatement," remarks the auction house.

"For many years, this collector bought only the greatest producers from the greatest vintages."

The most valuable lots of the auction, however, will be French. Headlining will be a 12 bottle case of the 1962 Leroy Romanee St Vivant. The Burgundy is expected to make up to $35,000.
