It's fitting that diamonds fetch some of the most dazzling sums at auction - and a pink diamond is set to continue the trend at Sotheby's in Geneva, this coming November.
According to reports, the "fancy intense pink" stone is being sold by a private collector, in whose possession it has been for the last 60 years.
Descriptions of the diamond say it has a classic emerald cut with gently rounded corners. There is a single flaw, apparently unnoticeable to the naked eye.
Experts say the diamond may be graded internally flawless after re-polishing. Interested buyers can judge for themselves in Hong Kong, where the diamond has been exhibited since October 2.
Sotheby's have attached a $27-38 million estimate to the diamond (not the example pictured). It was last sold in New York by jeweller Harry Winston.
