Roger Moore's Rolex Submariner valued at up to $253,000

The 1971 Rolex 5513 Submariner watch worn by Roger Moore in Live and Let Die is to cross the block at Phillips.

It stars in several iconic moments of the 1973 movie, including a scene where a buzz saw (not included) hidden in the bezel allows Bond to escape.

It also housed a magnet (again, not included), which Bond employed to unzip women's dresses.

It's valued at $151,927-253,212 ahead of the November 7-8 Geneva Watch Auction. It sold for $243,959 in 2011.

Art director and prop designer Syd Cain created the piece, which retains the modifications seen in the film.

Cain was the man behind some of the most ingenious gadgets featured in the franchise, having been on board since Doctor No (1962).

The lot displays Moore's signature inside the caseback.

The auction house describes it as "the most recognizable watch in history…

"The present Rolex reference 5513 'Q' is the most unforgettable watch prop used in a movie and is even signed inside the caseback "Roger Moore 007".

"As a highlight in the most iconic scenes of 'Live and Let Die', this watch is sure to interest both watch collectors and true fans of cinematography alike."

The film was the last outing in which Bond wore a Rolex. Since then he has sported timepieces from Omega.
