The new Seamaster Planet Ocean Liquidmetal is designed to better withstand the rigours of underwater diving than any other Omega watch before it.
High-end watchmaker Omega SA has even unveiled a new glass alloy, excitingly dubbed "Liquidmetal". It apparently contains zirconium, titanium, copper, beryllium and nickel.
The material is said to be three times stronger than conventional stainless steel, and bonds well with the watch's bezel.
The bezel itself is very resilient to unsightly scuffing and scratching.
Deep within the watch is the Co-Axial 2500 caliber. In each Seamaster, the caliber's precision has been tested in tasks lasting up-to 15 days by the Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres (COSC).

Omega has ensured that the watch - limited to 1,948 examples - maintains all the best features of previous Planet Ocean 600m watches.
Its sleek design includes hour indexes and arrow-tipped hour hands to give excellent legibility in conditions of near-zero light.
The helium release valve, caseback and winding crown are all tight and secure, which will help to support the 600 metre diving limit. The strap is also well-designed to accommodate a wetsuit.
And, in case you were wondering, the watch's limited production of 1,948 isn't a random number. 1948 is the year the first-ever Omega Seamaster watch was released.
This watch is rare, and which will no doubt be reflected in its price and in its future bankability as an investment.
