Omega Auctions' sale of watches, fine wines, Port & spirits and sporting memorabilia next month should prove of interest to collectors, and particularly those on the look-out for a timepiece or two.
The auction, at the Mere Golf and Country Club on December 4, has a number of notable items in its catalogue. But the top lots are a pair of very different but equally stylish watches, both with an 18 carat seal of approval.
Firstly is a 18ct yellow gold Rolex Daytona Cosmograph watch, with an 18ct bracelet and a mother of pearl dial with diamond set hour markers. It features sapphire crystal scratch resistant glass, an automatic self winding movement and is water resistant to 100m.

The watch is a fine example of Rolex craftsmanship, and could prove a solid investment with an estimated price of £10,000 - £12,000.
The other top lot is a gent's Gondolo watch from Patek Philippe. It too is 18ct yellow gold, featuring a seconds sub-dial at 6 o`clock and a crocodile skin strap with gold clasp.
The Patek Philippe name alone should ensure this watch appreciates in value over the years, and with a price of £6,000 - £8,000 collectors should definitely take note.

The market for collectible wristwatches is still a relatively young one, and there are still bargains to be found for entry-level investors. And with 2010 proving a record-breaking year (seeing a Patek Phillipe 1943 gold wristwatch become the most expensive ever when it sold for £2,675,400), it seems in 2011 the market could grow even stronger.
Now could be the perfect moment to invest in a classic timepiece, and collectors will be counting down the hours until these two watches go up for sale.
