As we reported, Sotheby's is offering an interesting range of jadeite and diamond jewellery tomorrow (Wednesday 7 April).
However, at least as exciting is a range of 330 rare and collectible watches on offer on the same day, from the 1970s through to very recent pieces.
There are three Patek Philippe pieces in particular which are likely to attract the attention of bidders:
A fine and rare platinum and diamond-set watch with a split-seconds complication is estimated at HK$1.6m-2m (US$200,000-258,000). The piece also features a perpetual calendar with leap year indication and moon phases.
With a guide price of HK$1.4m-1.8m (US$180,000-230,000), a 22 karat white gold Patek with a sky chart and moon phases will also excite a great deal of interest.

But the most intriguing piece is a HK$2m-3m (up to US$386), Patek. Made from 18 karat yellow gold in 1970, it is studded all the way round the circular case with diamonds - and completely skeletonised.
Obviously intended to draw attention at events, the valuable piece could make a good investment for a timepiece collector.
Of the auction, Vanessa Herrera, Head of Watches for Sotheby's in Hong Kong commented, "With the China market gaining momentum and to satisfy the voracious appetite of Asian collectors for fine watches, we are thrilled to offer the largest watch sale that Sotheby's Hong Kong has staged in seven years".
The results of the sale will be reported here.
