In the above video, Hollywood A-lister John Travolta recounts the day he met Princess Diana and danced with her for the first time.
Their encounter happened at a 1985 White House dinner, with President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy looking on as the star showed Lady Di his moves on the dancefloor.
Bidders resurrected the memory of their dance on June 23 at Waddington's Auctioneers in Canada, when 14 gowns owned by the Princess went under the hammer.
The dresses had belonged to Maureen Rorech Dunkel, who bought 12 of Diana's dresses at a Christie's auction in 1997 for $870,000. Diana died in a car crash just eight weeks later.
Not surprisingly, this iconic dress emerged as the top lot in Waddington's sale.
Taking inflation into account, the Lady Di-Travolta dress's final value brought more than Dunkel spent on 12 of Di's dresses in 1997 - evidence, if any were needed, that values of these items are on the up.
