A one of a kind Steinway & Sons Parlour Grand Model A piano designed by Johnny Ives and Marc Newson realised $1.9m at Sotheby's on November 23.
It achieved an increase of 862.5% on an initial estimate of $200,000 at the (RED) charity auction, which took place in New York.

The maple and Alaskan Sitka spruce piano features a custom colour combination of white and red along with silver-plate and nickel components.
The sale, which featured an array of items specially created by Apple's head of design, Johnny Ives, and industrial designer Marc Newson, realised $12.8m for the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
A number of celebrities, including Harrison Ford, Sir Terrance Conran and Chris Martin attended the auction, with Martin taking to the stage to play the piano before bidding began.

It features a magnesium die cast outer body with an outer shell of milled and anodised aluminium, shaped in the characteristic biomorphic style that is the hallmark of the two designers.
It now holds the distinction of being one of the world's most valuable cameras.
The (RED) desk, an aluminium console, realised $1.6m - achieving an impressive 237% increase on a $500,000 valuation.
The last (RED) auction, which took place in 2008, achieved sales of $42.6m and featured work by artists including Damien Hirst and Banksy.
