A very fine letter you can own today

On this day in 1965, Winston Churchill died at the age of 90

He lived one of the most significant lives of the 20th century.

His state funeral was the largest in British history, attended by 112 countries and the Queen herself.

A fitting tribute to a man who led the nation through its darkest hours.

But aside from the pomp and ceremony was a simple handwritten note.

Placed at his graveside by a grieving WWII soldier.

"By your death, we have been impoverished, but your noble life has enriched mankind for all time."

It was a sentiment felt the world over. And it still is today.

This handsome letter is typed on Churchill's personal stationary.

Sent from his London home at Hyde Park Gate and dated December 6, 1959.

The letter is addressed to Commander Sir Peter Garnett Agnew, a former Royal Navy officer and Conservative politician.

In the letter, Churchill thanks Agnew for a set of prints given to him as a birthday gift from his fellow M.Ps.

The letter is presented in excellent condition, with clean edges and minor original mail folds.

Churchill's autograph is clear and distinctive, signed in crisp black ink.

History & pride

A Winston Churchill signed letter is a very fine thing to own.

A piece of history you can be proud of.

He's admired around the world for the role he played in WWII. And that global appeal ensures his memorabilia is always in strong demand.

Churchill is a key name for every 20th century history collection.

That's why letters like this are becoming harder to source. And why collectors are now holding onto them for generations, rather than years.

These are historic heirlooms to hand down to your family.
