Few sources write sarcasm better those at The Onion, and sometimes it proves to be just a bit too good.

As the editors at Daily Manab Zamin and New Nation in Bangladesh found out as they republished a spoof Neil Armstrong interview that had originally appeared in The Onion

In the 'interview' Armstrong realises that he had never foot on the moon...

"'It only took a few hastily written paragraphs published by this passionate denier of mankind's so-called 'greatest technological achievement' for me to realize I had been living a lie' said a visibly emotional Armstrong", according to the Onion's story.

"Speeding up the tape and replaying the graceful moonwalk several times in a row, Armstrong explained that the iconic images of humanity's triumphant dance with the cosmos was actually just a film of him walking backwards, slowed down, and played in reverse."

You might think Armstrong would have remembered doing that.

Of course it's sometimes difficult to know whether truth or fiction is more absurd, as readers will know if they've read about Holland's moon rock.

For the record, all three Apollo 11 astronauts still assure the world they did indeed go to the moon - and Armstrong rarely talks to journalists so the editor at New Nation really should have known better.

Bangladesh's neighbour India recently abandoned the remainder of its first (unmanned) moon mission Chandrayaan-1 after losing contact with it, but claimed to have achieved almost all its objectives.

So, new moon memorabilia remains a little way off yet. It's why the original Apollo 11 memorabilia remains so popular.
