The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC is now displaying the gloves and helmet Neil Armstrong wore during Apollo 11.
The rest of Armstrong's spacesuit will go on display in 2019
The artefacts underwent preservation in 2015 as part of the multimillion dollar "Reboot the Suit" initiative.
The rest of the suit will be shown in 2019.
Cathleen Lewis, curator of space history at the Smithsonian, comments: "The opportunity to display these artifacts is rare because of their fragility and the necessity to maintain a controlled environment.
"We are excited for the opportunity to show our visitors these components while we work to conserve the body of Neil's suit."
