The archive includes rare photos of spacewalks

The 22 images include rare views of the Earth and breathtaking shots of space walks.

They were printed during the mid-1980s for inclusion in a travelling exhibition titled Sightseeing: A Space Panorama.

The show was organised by the Smithsonian.

Many of the photographs were previously unpublished, making them particularly desirable to collectors.

The auction house comments: "These are the only known Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) prints made from original NASA positives…

“All the photographs were taken between 1965 and ’84, and printed circa 1985.

“Their significance has been thrown even more into focus by the approaching 50th anniversary of the first Moon landing in 2019, which is attracting more collectors to this field.”

The collection will be offered as a single lot with a valuation of $15,000-20,000.

A collection of almost 300 images from Apollo missions 10 to 17 are valued at $7,000-10,000.

They include numerous shots on the lunar surface, including the historic Apollo 11 landing.

The lot is accompanied by various letters and other ephemera dating from 1969-1972.
