A sale billed by its organisers as "the largest militaria auction to come to market in the last five years" is set to take place between January 23-24.

Among the memorabilia on offer is an exceedingly rare group of three distinguished medals given to the ace World War One German pilot Adolf Ritter von Tutschek, who flew with the elite Jagdgeschwader 2 air force.
The sale will include his original named and engraved Pour Le Merit "Blue Max" award in its original case, his cased Iron Cross medal with his name engraved on the reverse, and his engraved, cut-out pilot's badge in a leatherette box.
A German soldier-turned-fighter pilot, Von Tutschek notched up 27 air victories during WW1. He was shot down a killed in action on March 15, 1918, while piloting a Fokker D-1 tri-plane.

A truly one-of-a-kind offering, the medals - of great historical value for both militaria and aviation collectors - carry an estimate of $30,000-65,000.
The auction will also include Civil War, World War One, Japanese, German and US World War Two memorabilia. Live bids can be placed at SoldUSA's website, and remain open on Von Tutschek's medals for another 25 days.
