A collection of personal memorabilia relating to Queen Victoria and Balmoral Castle has sold well at Hansons Auctioneers' July 25-27 Antique and Collectors Auction.

The lead item among the collection was an iconic black mourning skirt and bodice that reportedly belonged to Queen Victoria, which sold for £540 ($830). Also among the top items was the queen's ivory hat pin case, which sold for £320 ($492).
In total, the collection realised £2,645 ($4,066), with most of the items having been passed down from one of Queen Victoria's friends, Mrs Christina Symon, who owned the only shop in the village of Crathie near Balmoral.
Earlier this month, a black mourning dress worn by Queen Victoria sold for £4,400 ($6,691), making a 46.6% increase on estimate.
