A US 1851 1c blue sold for $24,780 in the first half of Daniel F Kelleher's Flagship Series auction in New York on August 4.

The US 1851 stamp is one of 110 specimens extant

The lot is one of only around 110 surviving specimens, making it one of the rarest pre-1867 grill issue US postage stamps.

It's used and bears a strong strike of the iconic Boston PAID cancel.
