A complete set of 14 Philippines 1907 Bureau of Insular Affairs (BIA) special printing stamps will feature in Robert A Siegel's November 18 auction in New York with a valuation of $15,150.
After the invasion of the Philippines by the United States following the Spanish-American war of 1898, the US government issued regular US stamps overprinted with the word "PHILIPPINES".

The stamps were first issued in June 1898 and remained in use until August 1906, when the US civil government on the islands printed the Philippine Islands United States of America edition.
The stamps feature a single hinge mark on each, with the 4c and 8c listed as reperforated.
This particular set is being offered to the market for the first time since 1978.
The 1907 run is a reprint of the 1903-1904 issue, and features brighter paper than the regular issue.
A 1907 3c purple and black BIA special printing block features an estimate of $5,000-7,500.
The item is described as unique, and was printed using plate 1473 - which was only employed for the 1907 issue.
The block is lightly hinged and features a very minor thinning on the tips of the perforations at the top right.
