A 1959 Gibson L48 guitar Prince used to write and record his early demos is to cross the block at Julien's Auctions on November 4.

It's a hugely important piece of memorabilia from the star's formative years and carries an estimate of $40,000-60,000.

That could actually be a little on the low side, as the value of his memorabilia has increased dramatically since his death.  

His Yellow Cloud guitar made $137,000 against an opening bid of $30,000 earlier this year.
