Prince's Camille promo record among highlights at RR

A collection of 19 Prince promo records, including an unreleased copy of Camille - a record he recorded as his female alter-ego - has sold for $29,645.

The lot was offered with an estimate of $1,000, a sum it beat by a whopping 2,864%.

The album features eight tracks, which were recorded with pitched up vocals.

Wisely, Prince made the decision not to release the album - just a couple of weeks before it was due to go on sale.

Most of its tracks, including If I Was Your Girlfriend and Good Love, were later reworked and released on other albums.

The lot is consigned from the archive of Karen Krattinger, who managed Prince's tours for five years during the 1980s.

Other pieces from her time working with the star included a typically flamboyant white ruffled crop shirt from the Purple Rain era.

It's a unique variation of this instantly identifiable top and features elastic around the wrists.

It soared past an estimate of $4,000 by 218.1% to make $12,726.

A frankly absurd flower pillow was also offered, achieving $3,995 against a $200 estimate.

Prince gave it to Kattinger when he redecorated his house in 1985, suggesting that perhaps even he thought it was a bit much.
