Please Please Me signed record to sell for more than $30,000?

A signed copy of Please Please Me by the Beatles is to auction with an estimate of more than $30,000 at Heritage Auctions in Dallas on December 6.

Beatles Please Please Me
Please Please Me was the Beatles' debut album

The band's debut album was released in March 1963 to capitalise on the success of their first two singles, and shot straight to the top of the UK charts where it remained for the next 30 weeks.

Around 75 copies of the record signed by all four members are known to exist, making it the most widespread of all their signed records.

We have this signed copy of A Hard Day's Night from 1964, of which only 8-10 autographed copies are known.

Other remarkable lots in the sale include the suit worn by Gene Kelly in his portrayal of Don Lockwood in Singing in the Rain - valued in excess of $20,000.

Gene Kelly Singing in the rain
The suit was worn by Kelly in the film's climactic musical number

The distinctive grey suit was made in 1952 and features a label on the lining pocket that reads, "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/ Gene Kelly/ No. 1546-8565".

It features significant watermarks, which will come as no surprise to those who remember the film's most enduring musical number.

A suit and tie owned by country music legend Hank Williams features an identical estimate of $20,000 upwards.

Between 1947 and his tragic death in 1953, Hank Williams was a superstar, recording 35 songs that would reach the top of the Billboard music charts and 11 that would hit number one.

A CF Martin and Company acoustic guitar owned by Williams realised $134,500 at Christie's New York in 2009.
