A drum kit used onstage by legendary Mötorhead drummer “Philthy” Phil Taylor looks set to make £7,000 ($9,452).
Phil Taylor played drums on 11 Mötorhead albums
It’s difficult to overstate Mötorhead’s impact on the world of heavy metal. The band set the template for the thrash explosion of the 1980s, bringing a punk sensibility to a genre often hamstrung by pompous grandiosity.
It’s unclear just how much the kit was used, but the two bass skins (featuring a shark and eye motif) can be seen in Mötorhead’s 1980 video for Ace of Spades as well as countless live shows.
Taylor was kicked out of the band in 1992. He died in 2015, the result of liver failure, a month before front man Lemmy Kilmister.
