Blue Note jazz collection to sell through Doyle New York

An astonishing collection of jazz memorabilia assembled by Blue Note Records label boss Bruce Lundvall will auction through Doyle New York on June 25.

Miles Davis photo
Lundvall worked at Columbia, CBS, Elektra and EMI before landing at Blue Note, and he's rubbed shoulders with the finest in the music industry

The collection spans the history of jazz in 30 lots, with a photo entitled Miles Davis at Newman's Gym, 1971 by Jim Marshall expected to achieve $2,000-3,000.

Also starring, at $1,000-1,500, is the original artwork for Thelonious Monk's Straight No Chaser, which was created by Laszlo Kubinyi for the 1966 album.

More original art includes the composition for Charlie Parker's Bird with Strings: Live at the Apollo, Carnegie Hall and Birdland (1977).

Yet jazz fans needn't wait until the sale - Paul Fraser Collectibles is offering a signed manuscript from the legendary John Coltrane!
