The Emperor Concerto was first performed in 1812

It was the star lot of the Library of an English Bibliophile Part IV sale, beating its estimate of £250,000 ($306,053) by 51%.

The piece was Beethoven's final piano concerto and was first performed in 1812.

It's officially titled the Fifth Piano Concerto in E Flat Major, Op. 73.

One of Napoleon I's officers is said to have given the work its nickname after being blown away by its sheer grandiosity.
