An Athenian costume from the 1959 blockbuster Ben Hur is offered in a sale at Premiere Props later today.
The lot is valued at $12,000-15,000 ahead of the LA sale.
It was worn by an extra during the climactic chariot race sequence.
The auction house explains: "Its impressive appearance is the result of grand-scale production; MGM risked a record-breaking $15 million on its ultimately blockbusting Biblical epic in a last-ditch effort to stave off bankruptcy.
"The elaborate million-dollar chariot race sequence, set in a Jerusalem circus, was shot near Rome, Italy on an 18-acre lot at Cinecitta Studios."
