A sofa purportedly owned by Thomas Langlois Lefroy (1776-1869), the alleged inspiration for Mr Darcy in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice (1813), has sold for ?�2,300 ($3,835).
It acheived a 53.3% increase on its ?�1,500 ($2,501) estimate at Moore Allen & Innocent in Cirencester, UK on February 28.
Lefroy and Austen were romantically involved during their early 20s, although the relationship ended when he moved to Ireland to work as a lawyer.

He later served as chief justice of Ireland while Austen went on to become one of the best-known writers in the English language.
