Joanna Lumley's Patsy Stone, the drunken fashion editor in hit sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, was always the height of style, and now Lumley is to sell off items from Patsy's wardrobe as part of an auction to raise funds for The Prince's Trust charity.
The auction, which will be held on November 13, will feature 50 lots of clothing and accessories from the actress' collection, including pieces she wore in The New Avengers, The Trail of the Pink Panther and her own personal items.
From Lumley's personal wardrobe comes the pink Chanel suit she wore while lobbying for Ghurkas at Westminster. Made circa 2010, it is expected to sell for up to £600 ($960), and is accompanied by a leaflet that shows the actress wearing the suit during her high-profile campaign.
The most highly valued lot among the Absolutely Fabulous items is a Ryoichi Murata black velvet and feather hat, which Patsy wore in the 1996 two-part TV movie, The Last Shout. It will be sold with an image of Patsy wearing the hat to Saffy's wedding, and is expected to raise up to £300 ($480).
She commented: "I am giving up some of my greatest treasures and happiest memories. I am so thrilled to think that the proceeds will all go to benefit young people through one of my all-time favourite charities - The Prince's Trust. I love each item and each garment with a passion."
The anticipated top lot of the London auction isn't an item of Lumley's clothing at all. It's an album cover of the original score for the film The VIPs, which has been signed by Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. It will sell with a £500-700 ($800-1,122) estimate.
