A collection of pieces from much-loved Californian theme park Knott’s Berry Farm will sell at Heritage Auctions.

It will include a Model-T Ford bought by park founders Walter and Cornelia Knott (1889-1981). which is offered with a starting bid of $6,572.

The Knott family started their berry farm in the early 1920s.

Slowly they branched out into selling pies on the roadside before opening up a successful chicken restaurant. More attractions followed, including a replica ghost town and various rides until by the 1960s they had a fully-fledged theme park on their hands.

This car was parked in front of a replica of Walter and Cornelia’s first berry stall in the park. 

A Model-T was the couple’s first big purchase back in the 1920s and so has a particular resonance in the history of the park.

This example is not the original. It was actually bought in 1956 for the display.

Other highlights at the March 31 auction include the 1965 Farm Halloween Haunt monster hearse.

It’s essentially a hearse mounted on monster truck wheels and was used at the park between 2000 and 2014.

It’s expected to make more than $3,000.

Various animatronic models will also be offered 

Many buyers will be hoping to get hold of one of the park's iconic animatronic figures, including the bears from the Bear-y Tales ride.

Jim Lentz of Heritage explained: "This auction showcases the history of Knott's Berry Farm with rare items from Ghost Town, the famous Chicken Restaurant, Knott's Scary Farm, and even the fan favorite, Knott's Bear-y Tales Ride.

"From the park's humble beginnings as Walter Knott's berry stand to the theme park that now attracts more than 3 million people per year. This special event celebrates the 75th anniversary of the famous Ghost Town."
