More than 40 years after The Beatles' iconic Abbey Road LP was completed, fans still visit the street to pay tribute - including imitating the album's artwork which famously depicts the Fab Four striding across the road's zebra crossing.
Now fans, collectors and alternative investors will be able to take their tributes one step further when the two-piece white suit worn by John Lennon on the Abbey Road cover auctions on New Year's Day. The piece is being sold by Braswell Galleries in Norwalk, Connecticut, US.

Also going under the hammer is an iconic outfit from Lennon's later solo career, the black blazer worn in the video for this Imagine single. Both suits will sell alongside the 1972 Chrysler Town & Country station wagon owned by Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono.
This sale is a the latest in a long-line of Lennon related auctions to coincide with 70th anniversary of the singer's birthday, and most recently the 30th anniversary of his death on December 8. Sales have ranged from the iconic to the macabre, including a copy of Lennon's final Double Fantasy LP signed for his killer, Mark Chapman.

According to a statement by the auction house, Lennon's suit and blazer were last purchased together in 2005 for $120,000 - and could sell for significantly more when they go to auction on January 1. Watch this space for upcoming news on the sale.
