Truman temporarily took over the presidency from Roosevelt following his sudden death in 1945. He successfully campaigned for a second term in 1948, despite not being the favourite (Republican Thomas E Dewey was expected to win).
The back is engraved: "Pres. Harry Truman/ Visit/ San Antonio/ Texas/ 9-26-48"
