Two guns seized from the bodies of infamous outlaws Bonnie and Clyde will highlight a September 30 online sale.

In a 1934 ambush by police, following a crime spree that had lasted for over two years, the couple were finally brought down in Louisiana. After checking that the deadly duo were definitely dead, the authorities began to search their bodies, discovering a Colt .38-caliber revolver strapped to Bonnie Parker's thigh and another Colt .45-caliber pistol tucked into Clyde Barrow's waistband.
These two guns now stand as some of the most important Bonnie and Clyde memorabilia ever to appear at auction, with prices expected to reach $100,000-200,000 for each one. As the couple's personal handguns, which were on their person when they were killed, they far surpass the significance of the Thompson sub-machine gun and Winchester 12-gauge that sold for a combined $210,000 in January this year.
Also featuring in the auction will be a gold pocket watch that was found on Clyde's body shortly after he died and a cosmetics case that belonged to Bonnie, which was found inside the Ford they were driving when it was shot to pieces by police officers.
All of the items appear with excellent provenance, having come from the estate of Robert E Davis, who first acquired them from Texas Ranger Frank Hamer, the officer who led the posse of six gunmen in the ambush, as well as the estate of Marie Barrow, Clyde's sister.
One of the most important Bonnie and Clyde consignments in recent years, the auction is sure to draw global attention as collectors compete for items. "Just hang on to your hat, because it will be a bidding war," said LJ Hinton, manager of the Bonnie & Clyde Ambush Museum in Louisiana, in an interview with USA Today.
