Today, December 23, Universal Live auctions will be offering 200 items of militaria from WWII, with material from Britain, America, Germany and Russia available. Two lots in particular stand out:
Firstly, there is a 100% original SS soldbuch for an SS 'pioneer' - with many entries.
This is a genuine, original Nazi soldbuch for an SS member which has a large 2x3" photo of the SS man in uniform, stapled & stamped with SS stampings and a photo of Hitler attached at the beginning of the book.
It has the title: SS Pionier, from ss.aush,u, erl, btl (batallion) with many, many SS stampings and SS signatures (including:obersturmfuhrer-ss) and dates from 1943 to 1945.
This could be a great research project to determine the outcome for this SS member. Included in the lot is a solid black collar tab he wore in the photo. The whole set is a recent direct purchase from a WWII veteran's family.
It is expected to sell for $800 - $1,230, but might well go for more. Nazi memorabilia is a very solid market and collectibles such as this document signed by Hitler deploying officers may be considered an investment.
An even stronger market than the one for Nazi memorabilia is the current one for Russian collectibles of all kinds, so a vintage collection of 17 Russian military buttons, all considered rare which range from range from very good to excellent condition.
The buttons are from a comprehensive military button collection from an estate. They range from the 1800's to WWII, and are being offered in groups by category. This group is expected to bring $780 - $1,200, but we would expect it to fetch more in the sale which takes place in Illinois and online.
