US revolutionary war militaria exhibition opens at Sotheby's

Sotheby's will showcase a stunning selection of important militaria in its selling exhibition, Liberty or Death: Relics from the Revolutionary War Era, which opens on June 1.

Revolutionary War powder horn
The powder horn was made by Jonathan Leonard Jr on March 22, 1779, with the engraving completed by Richard Cresey

The New York exhibition will star items that have been specially selected for sale, alongside objects from the collection of the Museum of the American Revolution, which is due to be built in Philadelphia close to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.

Starring in the sale is a 1776 copy of the Declaration of Independence, an engraved powder horn from Jonathan Leonard Jr, and The William Schuyler American Horseman Sabre.

Paul Fraser Collectibles is selling one of the famous 1848 Peter Force reproductions of the Declaration of Independence - a fantastic chance to own America's most important document.
