Second world war vehicles to auction at Kivells in Devon

A collection of second world war vehicles lovingly restored by a Cornish farmer are up for auction at Kivells in Devon, UK on May 17.

Bob White, the farmer in question, began to acquire military memorabilia around 30 years ago and has proven himself a talented renovator - with many of the vehicles achieving awards at specialist rallies.

A rare Chevrolet radio truck is among the lots up for auction on May 17

White told the BBC: "As a little boy in the build up to D-Day, I would see convoys virtually every day of various military vehicles and I think that's where the interest goes back.

"I'll be very sad to see them go but I've had many years of enjoyment out of them."

The lots include a 1944 Universal Bren Gun Carrier with only 290 miles on the clock that was never shipped for active duty. A rare Chevrolet Radio Truck is another highlight.

The auction house states: "This is a truly unique retirement sale which is never to be repeated and not to be missed."

Another sale of second world war vehicles will take place at Auctions America on July 11-12, featuring a rare Churchill Toad Flail Tank and a Leopard 1A1A1.

We have an incredible selection of military memorabilia, including this autographed typed letter from British prime minister Winston Churchill.
