Fragments of the plane that US president Theodore Roosevelt's son Quentin perished in are to auction in France on June 26.
World war one combatant Quentin Roosevelt died aged 20, after the plane he was piloting was shot down over eastern France on Bastille Day, July 14, 1918.

Laurent Mirouze, a spokesperson for Aiolfi & Partners, the auction house overseeing the sale, asserts that although the twisted fragments possess little "visual value", they remain "very moving".
Formerly the property of Quentin's French landlady, the aircraft fragments remained in her family, and are offered from the estate of her descendents.
Mirouze comments: "We don't know how the landlady got hold of the fragments and if it was friends of Quentin Roosevelt or soldiers who gave them to her."
The fragments carry a €250 ($335) reserve, which, going by previous sales results, is highly likely to be met.
