O'Donnell's George Medal set to raise $95,000 for soldier's widow

The widow of Warrant Officer Gary O'Donnell (1968-2008), a British bomb disposal soldier who was killed in Afghanistan, will sell his rare George Medal through Dix Noonan Webb on September 20 in London.

O'Donnell was the first serviceman in 30 years to win the George Medal twice, having saved lives in both Iraq and Afghanistan. With his the only George Medal to be awarded in the modern era, it is expected to make £50,000-60,000 ($79,328-95,193).

The entire set contains the George Medal and Bar, General Service Medal Northern Ireland, Operational Medal Sierra Leone, Iraq Medal 2003, Operational Service Medal Afghanistan, NATO Medal, ISAF Medal, Jubilee 2002 Medal, Accumulated Campaign Service Medal and Regular Army Medal.
