A fascinating auction that's popped up this week is the sale of a 1980s memorabilia piece like no other...
I'm not talking about a Phil Collins autograph, or even a Michael Jackson stage-worn jacket (both of which, incidentally, we have for sale in our stock).
This is actually a piece of militaria. It's a copy of the original Falklands War Surrender Telex which is up for sale in London in April.
For me, this sale stands out because the auctioneer is timing the sale to near-coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Argentine invasion of the Falkland Islands.
This is a perfect example of how anniversaries can affect the collectors' markets.
Bonhams' two recent blockbuster space sales in 2010 and 2011 coincided with the two most famous Moon missions: Apollo 11 and Apollo 13.
And John Lennon's 70th birthday - and 30th anniversary of his death - resulted in more auctions of his memorabilia and higher sale values.
The Falklands War Surrender Telex sale is also of interest because it is contentious. By this I mean that patriotism, or simply passion for war history, will surely boost interest in the piece.
And I can think of another big anniversary which may be on interest to you...

Charles W. Lindberg Autographed Iwo Jimi Photograph - for sale: £495
This Thursday, February 23, is the anniversary of the planting of the flag at Iwo Jima. To mark the occasion, we have a rare photograph signed by Corporal Charles W. Lindberg (1920-2007) for sale.
Not to be confused with aviation pioneer Charles Lindberg, Corporal Lindbergh was a United States Marine who helped to raise the first United States flag on Iwo Jima.
The photograph's inscription reads "Charles W. Lindberg, 1st Flag Raiser, Iwo Jima, Feb.23, 1945, 10:30 A.M."
The glossy 8" x 10" image is a great buy priced at a relatively low £495 (click on the above image to find out more).
Given the immense passion for rare military collectibles among enthusiasts, if you're interested in this piece then you'll need to be quick.
